At the core of MLF is our Legal Panel — a group of leading legal experts and human rights advocates dedicated to delivering high-impact litigation and shaping policy reforms that create lasting change.

We take on important work that brings about legal change, through complex cases that set precedents, legal research and advocacy work and community education. This work goes beyond the individual and protects the rights and freedoms of British Muslims across the UK.

While pro bono clinics support justice for individuals cases, these cases don't solve for the systemic injustice faced by Muslims.

This is why MLF exists. By strategically supporting cases that set legal precedents and influencing policy through advocacy, MLF focuses on building lasting change.

Since these cases are complex, lengthy and can be too risky for pro bono clinics to take on, MLF relies on donations and a legal panel to take on important cases that deliver impact by setting meaningful legal precedents that become law.

Yes, we ringfence all Zakat donations within our Strategic Litigation Fund. These donations are deemed Zakat eligible as we focus on supporting individuals with complex cases that are resource intensive. We handle all Zakat donations separately which are used exclusively to cover legal fees covering an eligible case.

We ring fence all Zakat donations are focused on funding a team of legal and research experts that take on complex cases surrounding litigation.

Each Zakat donation is ringfenced towards the Strategic Litigation Fund. These funds are used exclusively to cover legal counsel fees related to the case taken on by MLF. This way, we’re able to:

  • Find high impact legal cases that protect freedoms and challenge discriminatory laws contributing to systemic injustice of Muslims.
  • Provide expert legal guidance to individuals facing discrimination or legal threats.
  • Advocate for stronger legal protections through policy work and research.
