The Muslim Legal Fund (MLF) provides strategic legal funding to support cases that protect civil liberties, challenge systemic injustice, and uphold fundamental rights. We prioritise legal actions that have a wider public impact, setting legal precedents that strengthen freedom of expression, equality, and justice for all.

WHAT WE FUND

Cases must align with our strategic litigation priorities, which include:

  • Discrimination in employment (including unfair dismissals, workplace bias, and religious/political discrimination).
  • Discrimination in public services (e.g., education, healthcare, housing, and social welfare).
  • Unfair treatment in the criminal justice system, including racial and religious profiling.
  • Challenges to Islamophobia and structural discrimination.
  • Violations of freedom of expression, political activism, and the right to protest.

HOW TO APPLY

Our legal funding is reserved for cases that have the potential to drive systemic change, challenge unjust policies, and protect fundamental freedoms.

If you believe your case aligns with MLF’s mission, please complete the funding application form.

All applications are reviewed by our Legal Panel - comprising leading legal experts and human rights advocates - who assess cases based on their legal merit, potential impact, and alignment with our strategic priorities.

Due to limited funding, we are unable to support every case, but we aim to prioritise those that can create lasting change in the legal landscape.
